1. Predictions (Jangkaan) are made with WILL( akan) or WON'T (tidak akan) followed by the infinitive without to.
- Ex. I will be an engineer.
- Ex. I think they will find a cure for zica virus.
- Ex. He will be able to (akan boleh) swim in two months.
- When I am 30, I'll (I will) be a famous singer.
- Will they find a cure for zica virus soon?
- Yes they will/ No, they won't.
We use the first condional to talk about possible situations (situasi yang mungkin terjadi) and their consequences (akibat)
a) If the situation comes first, we use a comma before the main clause.
If clause (situation) | Main clause (consequence) |
If I study harder, | I will pass the exam. |
If you don’t study hard, | you won’t pass the exam. |
b) But you can start the sentence with the main clause. In this case you don't need a comma.
Main clause (consequence) | If clause (situation) |
I will pass the exam. | if I study harder. |
You won’t pass the exam. | if you don’t study hard. |
